Q: Why did the email I sent bounce?
A: Your email was rejected the mail server here. There are several
possible reasons why:
- Your email looked like spam. In an effort to reduce the amount of
spam in our users' inboxes we run an automatic spam checking utility
which has the authority to block delivery of mail.
- Your email had an attachment with a dangerous file extension. To
help safeguard our users from viruses/trojans we do not accept any
email that has BAT, CMD, COM, EXE, INF, JS, JSE, PIF, REG, SCT, VB,
VBE, VBS, or WSF.
- Your email contained a virus. To help safeguard our users every
incoming email attachment is scanned for viruses. If an infected
attachment is encountered it is automatically rejected.
- Your email exceeded the maximum size allowed by our server,
currently this is set to 15Mb.
- Your email attachments were malformed. Our server is picky about
malformed MIME attachments. Specifically if your:
- line length is excessive long
- proposed filename is excessively long
- boundary string length is excessively long
- number of MIME parts in one message are excessive
- BASE64 line contains non-BASE64 characters
- message has more than one Content-type, Content-Disposition or
Content-Transfer-Encoding per MIME part.
- uuencoded line is not a multiple of 4 characters
- uuencoded text is not the same size as the proposed data length
- BASE64 line length violates RFC standards
- BASE64 line is not a multiple of 4 characters
- quoted-printable section contains illegal characters
- The email address in your message's From: line could not be
verified. The server will not accept an email with a blatently false sender address.
- Your account or your entire domain is intentionally blacklisted -- certain anonymous remailers and well-known spammers are thus blocked.
